5 ways to earn extra money as a designer
For designers, it’s a delight to earn some extra money as passive income besides your full-time job. Here are 5 ways to make it happen:
1. Open a shop on Creative Market:
Opening a shop on Creative Market is a good way to earn some extra income. Whether you are brand designers, illustrators or 3D designers, you’ll find a place there. To open a shop, click here. You can also check out our shop via this link.
2. Selling fonts:
Nowadays, designing typefaces and fonts has been made easier thanks to a variety of applications and professional tools. There are a couple of font design software such as FontLab Studio, Fontographer or Glyphs….that will help you design your first font with ease. Glyphs is our go-to tool for its user-friendly interface.
For publishing, there are some marketplaces such as MyFonts with more diverse fonts, or Creative Market with more stylish, hand-drawn and display fonts.

3. Selling illustrations on stock pages
If you’re an illustrator or designer, you can sell your works on stock marketplaces such as Abode Stock, Shutterstock or iStock. Commission starts from 0.25$ per sale, but as you expand your porfolio over time, it can generate thousands of dollars a month (or more).
4. Selling prints on Etsy
If you’re an illustrator or visual artist, Etsy is a great place to sell your art. This platform requires a small number of listing fees (0.2$ per listing) but it’s worth it. To learn more about how to open a shop on Etsy, click here.
5. Start a Youtube channel
A Youtube channel is a great place to promote your work as well as publishing tutorials, vlogs… You can have your videos monetized once you reach 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours. If you upload regularly, you can earn a fair amount of money by actually promoting your work!
